How to Make Beef Balls Phở

Phở is a popular Vietnamese noodle soup made with beef broth, rice noodles, and various toppings, including beef slices, beef balls, and herbs. Beef balls are a popular addition to phở, and they can be made with a variety of ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, fish sauce, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Stir in the cilantro, green onions, bread crumbs, cornstarch, and baking powder. Mix until well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into small meatballs.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes per side.
  • Serve the meatballs in phở broth with your favorite toppings.

Tips

  • For extra flavor, add 1 teaspoon of grated ginger to the meatball mixture.
  • If you don’t have bread crumbs, you can use 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour instead.
  • To make sure the meatballs are cooked through, insert a toothpick into the center of one. If the toothpick comes out clean, the meatballs are done.

Enjoy!
